Leave Provision after resignation

Dear SAP Guru

We have one Employee who resigned on 01.10.2012. His final settlement took place on 13.04.2013. When posting his final settlement to Finance, the system is creating posting for Leave provision from Oct, 2012 to March, 2013 which is wrong. He is not an active employee during this period. How system is calcuating this provision and how to stop it.

Does the employee have leave entitlement in their last payroll active period that wasn't paid out etc?
