Exclude leadtimes in PDS during production planning

Post by Peter237 » Tue Feb 03, 2009 3:38 am

Hello

We maintain PIRs on finished product level in an inactive planning version. Then we run the MRP heuristic to do a BOM explosion, using the PP/DS PDS, to calculate the dependent demand on component level, and the heuristic will also calculate the receipt elements (purchase requisitions) for the components. But we do not want that the durations in the PDS are taken into account. Our planners would like that the forecast on finished product level falls in the same buckets as the BOM quantities for the components.

Is it possible to ignore the durations in the PDS during MRP heuristics?
If not, is there a way to delete the durations in the PDS during CIF?

Hi Peter,

as far as I know it is nit possible to ignore the duration in the PDS, because
MRP calculates demand on component level and creates capacity demands.

From my point of view the demand date of components would be wrong
if you ignore the duration for production process steps.

Are you talking about a bucket oriented PP/DS planning or a SNP planning
in this case ?
Can you explain the background of that requirement ?

Best regards Klaus

The planners want to see that the forecast of finished products fall in the same bucket as the component demand. Then they can exactly identify which forecast caused which component demand.

In R/3 you have the possiblity to run MRP either using 'lead time scheduling' (taking into account the durations from the routing -> PDS in APO) or using 'basic date' schedulilng (taking into account the inhouse production times). Is it possible to run MRP heuristic based on the inhouse production time from the product masters, instead of taking into account the durations in the PDS? If so we could put the inhouse times to zero or to 1 in the inactive planning versions of the products.

Was there any further progress on this?
