LS10: Structure does not fit into format, Message no. LT042

Post by bart jongen » Wed Feb 06, 2008 9:30 am

Dear SAPFan,

I cannot seem to map my Storage bin structure in LS10 (the system states: Structure does not fit into format, Message no. LT042). The structure I want to map consists of the following 8 characters and their range:

1: 1 to 9
2: A to Z
3 & 4: 00 to 99
5 & 6: 00 to 99
7 & 8: 00 to 99

Therefore in LS10 I enter:

Template NANNNNNNCC
Structure A_BBCCDD__
Start value 1A000000__
End value 9Z999999__
Increment 11010101__

(spaces are depicted as _)

What am I doing wrong here ?
Thanks in advance for your help?
Kind regards,

Dear Svetja,

Thank you for your reply.
I asume you refer to the reply (posted: Wed Jan 28, 2004 1:22 pm by Cadsur) on the topic "Creation of storage bins in WM." posted: Tue Jan 27, 2004 11:23 am by Guest?

From this thread I cannot understand what I have done wrong.
The examples from this thread (as well as the example in help.sap.com as well as the predefined settings for Warehouse 001 in LS10) only deal with numeric (N) situations, not alphanumeric (A).

you got the point.

you have to create this structure 26 times
one for the letter A, next for letter B , .....
SAP does not know that A+1 is B.

example:
Template NANNNNNNCC
Structure A_BBCCDD__
Start value 1A000000__
End value 9A999999__
Increment 11010101__
Template NANNNNNNCC
Structure A_BBCCDD__
Start value 1B000000__
End value 9B999999__
Increment 11010101__

Please have an eye on this two threads:

viewtopic.php?t=283418

If you work with such strategy, you may avoid the alpha charcters at all.

Dear Svetja,

Thank you so much for your help.
We will not use Near Picking Bin strategy (strategy K) from the start and I personally think my client will not relable their bins (EVER, that is…) since their warehouse is so big and this would require an enormous effort, but thanks anyway for sharing the knowledgde with me on that subject.

Now for the bin structure;
When I enter the structure as you proposed…:

NANNNNNNCC
A_BBCCDD__
1A000000__
9A999999__
11010101__

…I still run into the error message LT042.

Now since I have to enter the structure 26 times/per second, alphanumeric character anyway, I thought it might be appropriate to just consider the second, alphanumeric character as a CONSTANT character (C) instead of an alphanumeric one (A).

I tested this with the following structure…:

NCNNNNNNCC
A BBCCDD__
1A000000__
9A999999__
1_010101__

(difference: 2nd character set to C instead of A and left the increment for that character blank instead of 1)
…and it works, that means, the error message LT042 no longer occurs.

Thanks again for all the help.
